LBC Action is an affiliation of independent specialists who work together in made-to-order combinations to meet the tactical and strategic needs of our partners. Our partners get the expertise of a big firm or agency without the overhead. We’re effective, efficient, and have years of experience bringing out the best in each other on projects of all sizes. Martin LeBlanc

Strategic Leadership Advisor

Martin LeBlanc is a strategic planning, public policy, and fundraising specialist with two decades of experience helping organizations expand their impact. Most recently, LeBlanc served as the Managing Director of Innovation at Sixkiller Consulting LLC, a Washington, DC based strategic advisory firm. In 2014, he created the No Child Left Inside Alliance, a coalition of nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies that successfully advocated to establish a $2 million program focused on outdoor education and recreation programs. With the support of the Obama Administration, LeBlanc brought together diverse stakeholders to launch Fresh Tracks, a shared leadership experience for young adults from Compton, California and Alaska Native Communities. Fresh Tracks culminated in a December 2016 roundtable on Outdoor, Youth, and Diversity convened in the Roosevelt Room of the White House.

Juan Martinez

Leadership Development and Strategic Partnerships

Juan D. Martinez is the Children and Nature Network's Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and CEO of Leaders in Action LLC. He has over 10 years of non-profit management and implementation of strategy.  A National Geographic Explorer and a TED Speaker he brings the power of ideas to life through community driven solutions. Juan has made a commitment to help empower the next generation of leaders dedicated to addressing systems of inequity and access to opportunities by working with community leaders, non-profits, and businesses across the country.

Maketa Wilborn

Master Facilitator

Maketa is an organizational development consultant, artist, and educator who has been designing and leading highly effective meetings for 15+ years.  He is an expert in strategic planning with a focus on equity.  His passion for building intentional and engaged communities is supported by his dynamic presentation style and heart-centered, grounded presence.  Appreciative inquiry and visual mapping are foundational to his approach, he serves from a core belief in creating and sustaining authentic relationships.  He invites participants to take a creative challenges in order to uncover new possibilities for themselves and their organizations.

CJ Goulding

Youth Engagement and Leadership Facilitation

CJ Goulding is passionate about facilitating growth in three things: people, community, and leadership. In his day job, he trains, mentors and supports a national network of over 330 leaders who are changing systems and creating equitable access to nature in their communities. This work draws from experience leading outdoor trips, conservation crews, and youth internship programs for the National Park Service. He completed a MaED in Urban Environmental Education with IslandWood and Antioch University, where he studied the power of community and its connection to nature in urban settings. His essay "Why I Wear Jordans in the Great Outdoors" has been published and featured in culturally relevant outdoor curriculum across the country. He is an eager facilitator, writer, photographer, and lover of sharing and supporting stories.

Steve Smith

Outdoor Program/Risk Management Consultant, Experiential Consulting, LLC

Steve Smith has worked in outdoor education for over twenty years, specializing in program quality, risk management, and staff training. He understands the outdoor industry and risk management thoroughly, from the students to the leaders, from the staff to the parents, and from the board level to the ground level. He can help you align those different pieces to build a strong risk management culture with supporting tools and systems.

Steve served as the Chair of the Wilderness Risk Management Conference (WRMC) for three years (2014 - 2016) and was a standing member of the WRMC Steering Committee since from 2011-2018. His career has included administrative leadership roles with national organizations including Outward Bound and The Student Conservation Association. He is currently a board member for the Northwest Outward Bound School, where he also serves as Chair of the school's Safety Committee. He has a master's degree in teaching English, along with years of university-level teaching experience, and earned a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Society for Human Resources Management, all of which help him view outdoor education through a variety of educational and administrative lenses.

Craig Engelking

Government Relations Consulting

Craig Engelking has 17 years of experience lobbying in Olympia. Prior to establishing his own firm in 2014, Craig was the chief state lobbyist for the City of Seattle. Before that, he was the legislative director for the Washington Chapter of the Sierra Club. Currently, he is the owner of Engage Strategies, where his  mission is to provide outstanding government relations services for tribes, non-profits, and responsible businesses working to promote sustainability and to create opportunities for people who need them. Current clients include the Lummi Nation, IslandWood, Northwest Energy Coalition, Opportunity Council, and Tiny Trees Preschool.

Alaina Oleston

Graphic Designer & Brand Identity

For over 15 years Alaina has been helping clients express their identity and strategic goals to better position them in the marketplace and in the minds of consumers.  She has worked with numerous companies and organizations across the United States including medical and financial professionals, trust attorneys, corporate trainers, authors, photographers, lobbying firms and many small businesses.  She seizes every opportunity to form strong client relationships and deliver a compelling and meaningful customer experience.

Kristina Adams

Visual & Service Designer

Kristina Adams is a Seattle-based designer. With a background in visual design, she enjoys taking a systems approach to design and utilizing great visuals to create seamless customer experiences. She is excited to be part of LBC, and she holds a Master's Degree in Design Futures from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her specialty is the intersection of gender and design, and she has lectured internationally.

Tony Teske

Graphic Design and Photography

Tony has been graphic design and photography professional for over 20 years.  Having spent 14 years as the Art Director in the water sports industry and an additional 10 years as a freelancer, he brings a well-rounded wealth of experience and expertise to the LBC Action team.  From logo and identity design to print collateral and website solutions, Tony has a passion for great design and photography, and an acute attention to detail for every project.

Thatcher Heldring

Writing, Editing, and Narrative Strategy

Thatcher Heldring is a freelance writer and author focused on Type 1 Diabetes, environmental education, and other issues related to children and health. He has also partnered with clients working on literacy, sustainable communities, youth leadership development, and health policy. He is also the author of four sports novels for young readers. He lives in Seattle with his wife, two sons, and a blind gecko. You can reach Thatcher through his website at www.spitballinc.com.

René von Saint-George 

Filmmaker

René von Saint-George aka Reno is an independent filmmaker from Düsseldorf, living in Berlin, Germany. He got his first camera at the age of 6 and since then has been passionate about capturing the moment. His career started on set where he worked as 2nd Assistant Director & Production Manager for several German TV series and movies. A couple of years later he began working for a commercial production company in Cologne as Junior Producer and 1st A.D. Thanks to the in-house post-production, he got sucked into nonlinear video-editing. The need of footage for video-editing led Reno to pick up the camera again. With his knowledge of work on set he started shooting behind the scenes footage of movies, TV formats and commercials and understood the importance of branded internet content and imagefilms. With 20 years of experience in customer orientated video production media services, 15 years of non-linear editing experience and passion for capturing the moment, Reno is proud to be part of the LBC Action crew.

Tyler Prell

Communications Consultant

Tyler Prell is a Washington, DC-based communications consultant and strategist with two decades of experience providing strategic communications counsel to local and national progressive advocacy, labor, nonprofit and political organizations. Tyler has extensive experience in all aspects of strategic communications including message development, media relations, digital engagement, paid media and has authored op-eds published in national newspapers. He has served dozens of advocates and organizations who are dedicated to creating positive social and economic change, including Justice for Janitors, diversity policy for the NFL, and Fresh Tracks, a leadership development program for young adults from urban and indigenous communities. Tyler has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and lives in Northwest Washington, DC with his wife and son.
